Matt leads the firm’s Emerging Growth/Venture Capital Practice. He serves as outside general counsel to emerging growth and middle-market companies; represents venture capital funds with their equity and debt investments, as well as portfolio company oversight; and leads private-equity-sponsored and strategic domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures of public and private companies.
Prior to attending law school, Matt was an analyst with Accenture, where he provided management consulting to leading pharmaceutical companies in the areas of information technology, sales, corporate communications and product information.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of SDC Nutrition, Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing manufacturing company in 2014 and 2013; a member of the Board of Directors of Urban Innovation21 (and its Executive Committee); a trustee with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (and a member of its Finance and External Relations Committees); and a member of the Advisory Board of Duquesne University School of Law. Matt also chairs the Pittsburgh office’s pro bono legal services, and is a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
He and his wife, Lauren, have two girls, two boys and two pets (a dog and a bunny).
