The New York representatives of Reed Smith’s Social Impact Finance Group (Aaron Bourke, Jim Mercadante and Sandra Poe) would like to invite you to join us for a two-day conference on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 at NYU School of Law at Vanderbilt Hall. The conference is being hosted by the Impact Investing Legal Working Group (IILWG), an industry group of lawyers working in the fields of impact investing and social entrepreneurship that members of Reed Smith’s Social Impact Finance Group co-founded and co-operate.  This will be the third annual conference organized by the IILWG; last year’s conference was hosted at Reed Smith’s New York office and had over 140 attendees.

As in the past, the conference will bring together many of the leading minds focusing on how lawyers and the law can most effectively serve impact investors and social entrepreneurs, with a specific focus on building the community of lawyers working on this issue.  This year’s conference will also serve as the launching point for the new Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU School of Law, a first-of-its-kind center working to improve the legal systems that affect social entrepreneurs.

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) just released their 2017 Annual Impact Investor Survey.  This will be the topic of discussion for the Morning Plenary session on day 1 of the conference (9:00 AM – 10:15 AM).

The current version of the conference program can be viewed here, and registration can be completed here.  Attendance is free.

We would also like to invite you to join us after the conference, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24 at The Wren, where we will be hosting a happy hour for several clients and potential clients attending the conference (see below invitation).  Please feel free to personally invite any of your clients that would be interested in attending.

Please let Dounia Elias ( know if you plan to attend the conference and/or the happy hour.

We hope you’ll be able to join us!
